Our villa is set in the grounds of Penstowe Manor holiday complex in Kilkhampton and is located approximately 500 yards from Penstowe Manor House. The village centre with its places of worship (3), including the historic church of St. James, village pubs (2), fish and chip shop, pizza and internet cafe, Spar and Londis stores (both of which provide locally baked bread) and post office is about half a mile away from the villa. There is also a Chinese takeaway on the outskirts of the village. It is just under three miles to the nearest safe surfing and swimming beach at Sandymouth Bay and Bude is only a fifteen minute drive away . There are four 18 hole golf courses in the area and there is a short 9 hole course and driving range within a five minute drive. You can make full use Penstowe Manor’s extensive grounds, bars, shops, food outlets, launderette and outdoor swimming pool during your stay. Indoor sports facilities (including indoor swimming pool), sauna, jacuzzi, table tennis, pool squash, badminton, indoor bowls and tennis court usage is reserved for leisure club members. On site organised entertainment and children’s supervised activities are also for leisure club members only. The Cornish Coastal Route, scenic country walks, sea / lake fishing and horse-riding are all available nearby. Kilkhampton provides easy road access to Bodmin Moor (Jamaica Inn), Tintagel the legendary home of King Arthur, Morwenstow where the Reverend Hawker wrote the words to “Trelawny”, Boscastle and other unspoilt fishing villages on the North Cornish coast. For those who wish to travel a little further, the world famous Eden Project is less than 50 miles away from the villa. There is also close car access to a wealth of themed parks where the children can have fun (see useful links page for details of some of these). The location is ideal for either relaxing on the beach or in the countryside, or for a more active holiday. |
